November 05 Otokoyaku in black tailcoats is always love Sumire no Hana Sakukoro still remains my favourite Takarazuka song. Today i finally downloaded the full clip and i got to see/am still seeing Wataru (aka sex on LONG legs) and other hoshigumi members dance to a jazzy version of 'Sumire no Hana' in their black tailcoats with shiny rhinestones on her vested part and pants. The dance is also so handsome, nice and elegant and so...manly?? I don't know how to explain just how beautiful the easy movements are even though these movements are so simple and repeated in any otokoyaku dance. It just kills me. I am officially dead. The top pair dance at the end is just as jazzy and just as elegant and beautiful. I do like Shirahane Yuri. Although her face at times looks a little bit weird as she's not as pretty as Dan Rei, but she's good. I can't believe that the story of a hankychief can move me and make me squee on all different levels. The closeness of the people as lovers makes me melt and Wataru's sexy looks, the way she combs her hair, the way she brings Yuri's hand into hers and touches them.............is LOVE. The way Yuri's dress flows makes it evermore so elegant. Angst otokoyaku looks and looks into the eyes and lips of a musumeyaku makes me melt into a puddle and of course the hug at the end with the greatest smile ever has killed me. The evidence is here God damn i'm stuck in disneyland Why can't love be like that in real life? April 14 Finally HOlidays~~Vienna Elisabeth reviewI'm so glad, it is FINALLY the holidays---a time to catch up and relax. Already it's easter and the year has just zoomed by.
I even had time to do my nails. I've always wanted a French manicure and i just came back from my cousin's house and did my own nails although it's not as long but still it's nice to have beautiful nails.
I'm really glad because last year i recommended Curtin to buy the German musical, Elisabeth on DVD and THEY DID.
Anyways, yesterday i borrowed out the DVD which they sped up the process to lend to me during Easter. And once i came home i already put it in. Actually, this version of Elisabeth recorded live at the Theatre in Vienna 30, 31st October 2001 is the first real musical that I have ever seen (you can't consider Takarazuka as a real musical group because they don't employ them to do long runs of musicals). It is also the first time that i saw a musical that used men and women.
Elisabeth is all in German and it's great to hear my favourite musical in another language. I love the music, the orchestra was more powerful compared to the Takarazuka version. I must say, the vocalists and cast members all have incredibly good and strong voices and it's just so powerful that you can feel the whole atmosphere and the power of the hapsburg empire in your own home.
The props used in the Vienna version is completely different from Takarazuka. Here they made use of a staircase in which death descends, Sissi uses to declare that her life belongs to herself and Lucheni uses. It was kind of strange.
Maya Hoovart plays Elisabeth, but i felt she looked a little bit old for young Sissi. However, she has a strong voice and conveyed Sissi's fustration at her husband for complying to his mother's wishes.
Franz Joseph was actually quitebald in this play (something i'm really NOT used to...seeing men play a man's role! I have yet to see a bald Franz in a takarazuka play) and already had a moustache and i think i saw a little spitting from him but he's voice was deep and acted dutifully putting his country infront of his wife.
I'm really quite impressed by the role of Lucheni. The man who plays him has a trace of insanity in his voice and the added bits in the vocal score impressed me.
Death is played by a young looking blonde German chap. He has quite a handsome face. I'm so very surprised that Death is blonde with hair tied up and not a black evil looking wig. He also lost the cool costumes. In the first scene where Lucheni revives the hapsburgs and calls upon Death, Death looked a mere human. They might be trying to achieve a human death here. He is good at singing and he his voice has a trace of maliciousness which made me think Death was a little crazy. His laugh was not as evil as Shizuki Asato's or Haruno Sumire's, but was deep and he was the one that rang the bells at the wedding and it was quite funny and interesting seeing Death dangling like a bell boy. This death has a very good voice and in 'The Last Dance', i felt his anger at Elisabeth for marrying Franz Joseph and felt like he wanted to rape her or something crazy like that for her betrayal.
One thing that i would really want somebody to do is make Sophie to be the misunderstood mother instead of the evil mother in law. Again here she was made quite evil, reminding Sissi of her duties and being her's son's mastermind behind his life and politics and lastly forbidding Sissi's needy son, Crown prince Ruldolph (who was such a cute boy) from seeing his mother. The lady, didn't really sing her parts, more like she spoke and sang some which was a little strange but it meshed well with the head of servants.
I really like the lady who plays the head of the servants, forgot her name but Liechenstien or something like that. She has a beautiful voice with a strong German accent.
The 'Love and Death' song was cut out (???What the???) I continually like the Milk scene which was so strong and powerful and the cast used the milk carrying buckets to good effects. And there is quite a funny man's voice in the cafe scene. What was weird was that in that cafe scene, they were all on bumper cars trying to avoid each other on stage and that was just WEIRD.
However, the most memorable bit of Act 1 was the ending of Act 1. This is where Franz Joseph gives in to Elisabeth's ultimatum in which he choses her over his own mother and Elisabeth appears in a frame, posed exactly like the famous Winterhalter picture and it comes alive. That was AMAZING. However, the music was kind of disappointing at such an important scene. It didn't seem to be powerful enough for such a point in Elisabeth's life. I liked how Elisabeth put out her hand into a stop when Franz Joseph wanted to try to get near her and Maya just gave a look like, sorry but you understand why I am doing this...
As a summary to Act 1, the Wien version of elisabeth concentrates on the story of Elisabeth's life and misses out on the love story between Death and Elisabeth (why death returned Sissi back to the real world straight after she did a circus trick i don't know...there wasn't even a love scene or the Love and Death song, she was just brought back to her bed at home straight away). Overall, i think this version concentrates more on singing and acting and there is little or no dancing. But i like it for the music.
Then the 1st act ended, and i must say, Germans are really smart in engineering. For this disc, you had to flip it over and it's the 2nd act. (how that works i am bewildered...) Sadly, the cataloguing people were a bit stupid and didn't realize what "Akt 2" means on the other side of the disc and they stuck a metallic strip all over the back to ensure people can't steal this disc and it will go off like a racket if somebody does and humilate you infront of others. So naturally, no DVD played can read off a sticker so hopefully on tuesday or something i'm going to uni and tell them what a mistake and possibly damaging thing they have done instead of guarding the disc from theives. hopefully it won't cost them another 35 Euros. I can't wait to see Act 2......

Looking forward to next saturday. Going to hand in my assignment tomorrow but sadly the library isn't open tomorrow so i can get them to fix the disc (and hopefully not damage it in the process).
March 08 Haircut + Hana PhantomHad a haircut after work today for trainee for free at Top Image, got it washed cut and straightened. Sarah (the trainee) made a slight mistake and mistook the cutting scissors for the thinning scissors. OH well, hair will grow back and people have to practice somehow to learn right?

On another note, i'm blushing just looking at the extremely beauitful pictures of Osa as phantom of the opera. she looks like a toy soldier dressed as phantom (an an elegant costume that i might add) and the hair do makes her rather dashing.
HOwever, i can not say so for her new top, Sakurano....she looks rather manly as christine.
Oh now i love you takarazuka. And oh how i love you my dear dear Osa...
February 26 Osa Asa keyringToday i made an Osa and Asa keyring.
Yesterday i spent ages taking apart a keyring my brother got from joining uni club (since he didn't want to keep it why let something go to waste when you can turn it into something more useful like a Taka-keyring???).
AFter 15 minutes or so struggling to take it apart, I discovered that actually they didn't glue the keyring together but it's actually one piece of square plastic cut in the middle and pushed into the centre of the other keyring.
Another half an hour was spent pushing the square out of it with mini screw drivers but failing, asked stronger brother to push and whilist using screw driver to yank it out...finally success.
After taking it apart i cut 2 tiny photos out that i printed (was going to make into stickers to stick in school books so i could stare while i'm falling asleep in class). It took me a long time to decide how to arrange the photo because it was too short but 24 hours later this morning, i decided to stick onto some colourful paper in the middle since it matches more than sticking it on the card provided.
I made Asa first stuck her handsome picture on blue paper and wrote on it to fill space
Put Osa in first then Asa at the back then closed plastic cover ontop and keyring and
In fact i'm quite proud of myself making such a nice keyring ^^ February 22 Accessories of a Takarasienne1) One must always carry a designer handbag
